Yesterday, 60 Key Stage 2 children tried their hand at making clippy mats from recycled material.
It was a tricky skill to master but some excellent artwork was produced.

Firefighters come to Winlaton West Lane
Yesterday Y5/6 received a fire safety talk from members of the Tyne and Wear Fire Service.
The children learnt about the job of a fire-fighter, about fire safety at home and at school and what to do should they ever discover a fire.
They were all given fire safety activity packs and some even got the chance to dress up as fire-fighter!
Did you enjoy the fire safety talk? What important messages did you learn? Share your 'comments' below.

At Winlaton West Lane Primary School we take E-Safety very seriously.
Check out the links below, games and further support about how to keep safe online.
Please take the time to look through this information and discuss it with your child. This will help to re-inforce what they learn in school about using the internet safely.

Flying high at West Lane!
This term has seen the start of the West Lane trampolining club. The club runs for an hour after school on a Friday and has been possible due to the fantastic fundraising efforts of the Friends of West Lane, who raised £2.500 to buy a state of the art new trampoline for our school. The club is initially open to Year 6 pupils but should be available to Year 4 and Year 5 pupils later in the year. The first group of children had their final session this week and they all said that they had had a thoroughly enjoyable 5 weeks, as you can see from the photos below and in the extended entry! So we'd all like to say a great big thank you to "The Friends"
