This term Y5/6AT have being studying the works of a selection of famous French artist. So far they have concentrated on Henri Matisse and Georges Seurat.
The children spent time studying the different techniques used by these artists and the subjects they based their art work on.
The children then tried using the collage technique of Mattise and the pointillist technique employed by Seurat to create their own art work. Below are a few examples.
I’m sure you will agree that we may have some budding artists in our midst.

The picture of the Eiffel Tower is mine and the giraffe picture is Sophie.
My Picture is in the style of Seurat and Sophie's is in the style of Matisse.
I really enjoyed the lessons when we did both of the different styles in ART & DT.
I enjoyed most of all using the cotton buds for the pointillism pictures instead of the paint brushes.
Miss Taylor is a really good teacher and we always have loads of fun and I always enjoy all the ofher lessons that she does with us.

In Art & DT Miss Taylor does really fun things with us. I liked doing the pointillism painting by Seurat because its a different way of doing art. We used cotton buds.

This was a really fun activity to do and everyone tried their best to make these pictures, but we couldn't have done it without Miss Taylor of course. Miss Taylor is a really good teacher and we have done lots of good things with her but the best was art.
