Mr Magoo has arrived in Y6/5 JS

Year 6/5 JS are currently working on obtaining the Impetus Award. This looks at human rights, in particular the rights of children. We have researched human rights and discussed the issues that arose. The children were very surprised to find that they had rights and decided to do something about it - hence Mr Magoo.

The children wanted to adopt a pet for the classroom and we decided to adopt a dog with the Dog's Trust. To do this they had to raise funds and the children decided to hold a class sale. Parents and friends were asked to help by sending in things for them to sell. We received an avalanche of things to sell which took quite a long time to sort out.

The children were very enthusiastic about the class sale and were pleased to be left with nothing at the end of the day - well not exactly - all donations were sold and the children raised a fantastic £156.00. Y6/5 JS then had the hard task of deciding on which dog to adopt and after a long debate decided on Mr Magoo - a lurcher with very long and springy legs. Mr Magoo has already sent the class a valentines card telling the children what he has been up to and we look forward to receiving our next letter from him!

The children now have to decide how to spend the rest of their money to help children achieve their rights in other parts of the world.

Well done Mrs Scragg's class you have worked hard and I bet it was worth it.Your dog is so cute and I love his name!! I thought your table top sale went really well and had lots of great things in it. You should all be so proud of your selves for doing all the hard work to adopt a dog!!

WELL DONE!!!!!!

We raised some money by a table top sale.
There were about 13 stalls and we had enough money to sponsor a dog called Mr. Magoo.

The class who raised the money was Y5/6JS and the money that we had left over from sponsoring Mr. Magoo we are going to use for present aid and we might buy stuff lke a school dinner for childrenat school in Africa who don't get dinner, or buy a bicycle or uniform or other clothes like socks.

I think sponsoring Mister Magoo is a really good idea and learning about a child's rights is really interesting.

Mr. Magoo is totally fab! He sent Year 5/6 a Valentine's card!:-)

Mr Magoo is fantastic and I cant believe he sent us a Valentine Day card. Thanks Mr Magoo "!!!!!!!

Mr Magoo is soooooooooo cute
