Dear Parents/carers/grandparents and children,
At West Lane, you might have noticed developments on the school field. This is our exciting 'Forest School' Area.
We have used willow and logs to weave a beautiful fence, archway, fire pit area and Dome shelter so far. These will continue to grow and become denser, turning this area into a fascinating wilderness for pupils and (grown ups!) of West Lane to explore and enjoy.
Children of all ages will learn how to problem solve, become more creative and develop teamwork skills through activities planned for in the 'Forest School' environment.
At West Lane we want children to be Bold, Daring and Imaginative. Encountering fun, yet challenging tasks in the 'Forest School' environment will support children to develop high self-esteem and confidence to tackle challenges out there in the 'wild', in the classroom and in everyday life.
Here are some pupils helping to build and plant our 'Forest School'.
