Ho Ho Ho!! Merry Christmas!!

Reception have had a Santa-packed week! On Monday morning they delivered their letters to Santa at Surestart, where he read a fab story about Santa coming to Newcastle. (The one about his visit to Gateshead is still at the publishers!)
The children all joined in with gorgeous singing for Santa. We even heard his reindeer stamping on the roof!

Then in the afternoon, Reception and Nursery had a good old boogie at their Christmas party.

Santa even came to our party too!!

Reception and nursery have been learning about Chinese New Year this week. They re-enacted the story of all of the animals and created dragon dances and masks. The children had a fun time yesterday tasting some Chinese food!

We had great fun on our reward day ice skating.

Reception and Nursery had a fantastic Christmas party! The children enjoyed the party food, dancing and games. Santa came to visit all the way from the North Pole with presents for everyone!

Wow, what an afternoon we had! Mr. Innerdale and his helpers did an excellent job of organising a fantastic range of activities and races. We had glorious weather and loads of team spirit. Nursery children, Reception children, school staff AND parents/carers joined in! Miss Potts and Ross Whitfield were so speedy! Thank you to everyone for taking part and watching the children have a brilliant time.

The sun came out for us, and so did the people, and that resulted in a fantastic Summer Fayre on Wednesday 16th June.

There was a really good turn out from the community as a whole and the atmosphere was fantastic.

For Chinese New year, Reception and Nursery got together to share the wonderful things the children have been learning about Chinese culture. We performed dances, songs and parades with masks, dragons and instruments.

We all had a fantastic time at the Foundation Stage Halloween party.

We raised £136.00 towards our exciting Outdoor Classroom Project. Thankyou for your generosity.

Everyone has done very well and we have been busy learning new things, making new friends and having great fun at Little Acorns this September.

We had a great time at the beach - it was a typical English summer weather - but our packed lunch went down a treat...

then we went to the aquarium and saw......

We were super in our Class Assembly as all types of creepy crawlies and itchy things.

We told our favorite minibeast story - The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Foundation Stage (nursery and reception) had a fantastic day at Tynemouth on our school trip to the Blue Reef Aquarium!

2009 saw the beginning of the Chinese New Year of the Ox. We celebrated Chinese in Nursery with fun activities - making dragons, eating delicious noodles and a lot more......

We had a waddling time at our Penguin Picnic.

What a busy, fun and exciting half term we have had at Little Acorns. We had a super Sports Day, visits from 'People Who Help Us' and a bouncy Rewards Day!

Big smiles all around despite the weather as Little Acorns set out on their Big Toddle to raise funds for Barnardo's.

We had a super time during French Week in Little Acorns.

Read on to see what we got up to....

We had a fab time in Nursery on Monday exploring cornflower and water, commonly known as gloop (so did Mrs Wilcox)

The children were amazed as the gloop changed as they touched it - it went from runny and drippy to smooth, solid and cold (In their own words). We made shapes, letters and pictures which magically dissapeared.

As our weekly colour is orange the appropriate food colouring was added (yellow and red as Emily reminded us).

Mrs Wilcox apologises to everyone needed in cleaning up, but it was well worth the mess.

It was great - if you want to have some fun at home - just mix some cornflower and water in a suitable container - and get gloopy!!!
